3D Modeling crackdown: A letter to CIG.

I write this to reach out to CIG.

CIG, JRDF or you have been on a removal spree on 3D models pertaining to your game.

I get going after people selling models for money. But even free models, even ones you cant download, are also being taken down.

I understand that you and JRDF have a license to do this... but:

JRDF is monopolizing the market and on top of that, charging absolutely egregious prices to even get a 1:500 model.

I will list dimensions in inches. L x W x H

Drake Herald: 1.8"x0.9"x0.7" -35 USD unpainted. This is worse than 40k prices.

I wont bother listing more. Of the 1:500 models, all of them MINUS THREE are 25-35 dollars and are all about the same size as the herald in terms of volume.

https://www.jrdf.sc/collections/1-500/products/herald-diorama-kit-1-500

The carrack and MSR models start at $125 for 1:500 and go to $225. These ARE painted.

And, this is for models no greater than 10 inches in length. TEN INCHES.
My roomate and I can print a FULL SIZE 1:1 SPARTAN LASER THAT IS ALMOST 6 FEET LONG.... AND SELL IT... for 400 DOLLARS. And only because it uses so much material AND its so large. Forget shipping that thing.

I am working on a 200FPS nerf bolt pistol from WH40k... It costs me realistically 100 dollars to print and put the hardware in it, including battery and charger, forget sanding and painting, and I can sell it for 300 dollars. A prop pistol that sits there? 85 bucks. And its bigger than your carrack model and is painted. Its 10 inches long and its only HALFWAY built!

You're telling me that a 10 inch model that is painted and resin printed, which is 10x easier to post process (minus washing and curing which really takes 10 minutes MAX) is worth 225 dollars? Thats bullshit.

Stop cracking down on the free models. You encourage creativity here and claim you want people to print and show their stuff off but you just nuked literally every model online to let JRDF sell Models that are easily 3x overpriced. The only reason they are priced that way is because I can only assume they arent selling and they need to recoup costs in the long run now.
A bottle of 1kg of resin costs 20 dollars. Per bottle, non bulk. That drake herald, if it was completely solid resin (which you cannot do, it HAS to be hollow) is 18 GRAMS of resin. Or.... 1/55th that bottle of resin. But lets be really really generous and say 1/40th for support material. They can print 40 of those drake heralds for 20 dollars. To put it in dollars, JRDF is turning 20 dollars or trying to, into 1400 dollars. That is stupidly insane prices. That makes GW look like saints in comparison. And I am saying this as an avid warhammer fan.

It is 100x easier for me to find models for anything Blizzard related and Games Workshop related who are CRAZY about their IP than it is your models now.
If I wasnt clear enough, you/JRDF are behaving worse than GW and Blizzard.

People are already complaining about it on the subreddit too. And I am extremely disappointed that somehow, someway, CIG/JRDF is worse than Games Workshop regarding this. “
While we understand the concerns raised in this thread, this is something that would be better served as a ticket. Spectrum is not a suitable place to speculate or discuss law or legal matters and should be avoided going forward. Please be aware that the thread in question has been removed.
